Project Material Calc is a free website with calculators for home improvement materials. You can use every page without creating an account.
What the site offers
Thirteen calculators estimate how much paint, wallpaper, tile, drywall, flooring, decking, concrete, fence post concrete, gravel, mulch, topsoil, brick and roofing material a project needs. Two more help with measuring: room area and stair dimensions.
Every calculator works in metric and in US units, shows how the result is calculated and repeats a complete example that you can check by hand.
How the site works
The pages are prepared in advance and delivered as ordinary web pages. The calculators run in your browser: the numbers you enter are not sent to us.
The explanations and the example results stay readable when JavaScript is switched off. Calculating with your own numbers needs JavaScript.
How the calculators are checked
Each formula is covered by automated tests. The tests compare the calculator with reference values that were worked out by hand, and they cover rounding, unit conversion and unusual input such as zero, negative numbers and text.
Example values such as paint coverage, brick sizes, sheet sizes and bag yields come from manufacturers, trade associations and published standards. They are examples, not rules: products differ, so check the label of the product you buy.
The texts and calculators were prepared with the help of AI tools and checked against those sources. They have not been reviewed by a licensed building professional.
How the site is funded
Project Material Calc is free to use. It may show advertisements to cover its costs.
Advertisements carry a visible label and are placed away from the buttons and input fields of a calculator. The site does not use pop-up advertisements.
Accuracy
Results are estimates. We try to keep the content correct and up to date, but mistakes are possible. Measure on site, check the product label and, for anything structural, follow your building code and the advice of a qualified professional.
